Free for non-commercial use. Personal projects, academic research, education, internal tools, evaluation, and non-commercial open source are all permitted at no cost.
$500 one-time, per organization, for commercial use. Any product or service that generates revenue from external customers — SaaS, mobile apps, web apps, APIs, embedded systems — requires a commercial license. The fee is per organization, not per seat or per product. The license is perpetual for the version you license.
Converts to Apache 2.0 per version.Five years after each version's release date, that version automatically becomes available under the Apache License 2.0. Conversion is per-version: v3.1.0 (released 2026-05-23) flips to Apache on 2031-05-23; later versions have their own dates.
