Terms of use.
Source code is licensed under BSL 1.1 (see /legal/bsl). These Terms cover use of the website, the published artifacts, attribution, liability, and jurisdiction.

01 · Acceptance
Acceptance of terms.
By accessing or using vedaksha.net, any Vedākṣha software artifact (Rust crates, Python packages, WebAssembly modules, MCP server implementations), or any related service (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms.
You represent that you are at least eighteen (18) years old and have legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you act on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
ArthIQ Labs LLC may modify these Terms by posting the revised version to vedaksha.net. Continued use after posting constitutes acceptance.
02 · Service
What this is.
Vedākṣha is an astronomical ephemeris and Vedic astrological computation library. It provides mathematical routines for planetary positions, house systems, divisional charts, dashas, and related primitives.
The Service is distributed in the following forms:
- Rust crates published to crates.io
- Python packages published to PyPI
- WebAssembly modules for browser and edge environments
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) server implementations
- The vedaksha.net website and any associated API endpoints
03 · No professional advice
Mathematical output only.
Vedākṣha computes positions, not advice. Anything users do with that output downstream is theirs.
The Service does not provide professional advice. By using it you acknowledge:
- Not financial, investment, or trading advice. No output should be used as a basis for any financial decision.
- Not medical, health, or psychological advice. No output is a substitute for professional medical diagnosis, treatment, or counseling.
- Not legal advice. No output should be relied upon for legal decisions or as a substitute for an attorney.
- Not life guidance or counseling. No output is an advisory service for personal decision-making.
- Not religious instruction. Use of Vedic and astrological terminology is for the purpose of describing the mathematical computation models the library implements.
Astrological computations produced by the Service are mathematical transformations of astronomical data. ArthIQ Labs LLC makes no representations about the validity, accuracy, or applicability of astrological interpretation.
Callers building applications, services, or products on the Service bear sole responsibility for how output is presented to their end users and for any claims they make based on it.
04 · Accuracy
Targets, not guarantees.
Vedākṣha targets sub-arcsecond agreement with JPL DE440 in DE-mode and analytical residuals below 15 arcseconds in fallback mode. ArthIQ Labs LLC does not warrant that computations are error-free, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.
The Service is not certified for and must not be used for aerospace, navigation, safety-of-life, or any other application where inaccurate computation could result in bodily harm, loss of life, or property damage.
Callers requiring guaranteed accuracy for safety-critical or mission-critical applications must independently validate outputs against authoritative sources.
05 · License
Source license.
The BSL 1.1 license text included with the source code is the authoritative license. In the event of conflict between these Terms and the BSL 1.1 license text, the license text controls with respect to source code licensing.
06 · Liability
Limitation of liability.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ArthIQ Labs LLC, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with use of or inability to use the Service, regardless of the theory of liability and even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
ArthIQ's total cumulative liability for all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred US dollars ($100) or (b) the total fees you paid to ArthIQ in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
07 · Indemnification
You indemnify us.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ArthIQ Labs LLC and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your misuse of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms or applicable law
- Any application or service you build with the Service that causes harm to a third party
- Any astrological, divinatory, predictive, or interpretive claims you or your applications make based on the Service's output
- Any infringement or misappropriation of intellectual property arising from your use of the Service
08 · Jurisdiction
Governing law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Lake County, Illinois. You consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts and waive any objection to venue.
09 · Jury trial
Jury trial waiver.
Each party irrevocably waives, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, any right to trial by jury in any legal action arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Service, or the transactions contemplated, whether based in contract, tort, strict liability, or any other theory.
Each party makes this waiver voluntarily and has been induced to enter into these Terms by, among other things, the mutual waivers in this section.
10 · Intellectual property
Trademarks reserved.
The Vedākṣha name, logo, and associated trademarks, service marks, and trade dress are the exclusive property of ArthIQ Labs LLC. Nothing in these Terms or the BSL 1.1 license grants you any right, title, or interest in those marks.
The BSL 1.1 license grants a limited right to use the source code under its terms. It does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
11 · Attribution
Attribution required.
Mandatory for all use, commercial or non-commercial. The attribution must be visible to end users without navigation to sub-pages or hidden sections.
Display this exact phrase prominently:
Powered by Vedākṣha (vedaksha.net) © ArthIQ Labs LLCAcceptable placements include application footer (visible on all primary pages), About page, CLI --version output, API response headers, README, or splash screen.
The attribution must:
- Use the phrase “Powered by Vedākṣha” verbatim.
- Hyperlink to vedaksha.net where technically feasible.
Failure to display the required attribution constitutes a material breach of these Terms and automatically terminates all rights granted, including any license to use the Service.
12 · Termination
Termination.
ArthIQ may terminate or suspend access immediately, without prior notice, for any material breach of these Terms — including failure to comply with attribution requirements (§11), unauthorized commercial use (§5), or misrepresentation of the Service's outputs (§3).
Upon termination your right to use the Service ceases. The following sections survive: 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13.
13 · Severability
Severability and entire agreement.
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the invalidity does not affect any other provision. The remaining provisions continue in full force.
These Terms, the BSL 1.1 license, and any commercial license agreement constitute the entire agreement between you and ArthIQ regarding the Service and supersede all prior communications, oral or written.
Failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
